Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule an appointment?

To get started, we will have an initial phone call with you. During this brief conversation, we’ll learn about your needs, answer questions, and determine the best next steps before booking your first appointment. This helps us ensure the right fit and streamline your intake process.

After the call, we’ll email you a link to our secure patient portal, where you will be able to create an account and complete intake forms prior to your appointment.

Do you accept insurance?

We are currently in-network with Aetna and Highmark, and are in the process of joining additional insurance companies. We also offer a cash payment option and an income-based sliding scale to ensure cost is never a barrier to receiving quality mental health care.

What are the costs and payment options for appointments?

For patients paying out of pocket, we offer simple, cash-based pricing and flexible payment options. We believe care should be affordable. We understand that finances can sometimes be a barrier to care, which is why we also offer an income-based sliding scale for patients who need additional support. Payment is due at the time of service, and we accept major credit cards, debit cards, HSA or FSA cards, cash, or checks. If you’re using insurance, your copay or coinsurance will be due at the time of your appointment.

If you’d like to review your costs or have questions before scheduling, just give us a call. We’re happy to go over all the details so you know exactly what to expect.

What conditions do we treat?

We provide care for a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related conditions, ADHD, sleep difficulties, and adjustment disorders.

If you’re unsure whether we can help with your specific concern, we’re happy to discuss your needs during a brief consultation.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes. We offer both in-person and secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments to make care as convenient and accessible as possible. You can choose whichever option best fits your schedule and comfort level, and you’re always welcome utilize either option. Our goal is to make it easy for you to receive consistent, high-quality care in the way that works best for your lifestyle

What should I expect during my appointments?

Your first appointment is typically the longest. During this time, we’ll take a comprehensive look at your mental health history, current symptoms, medical background, and life experiences. This allows us to understand your unique story and begin developing a treatment plan that feels aligned with your needs and goals.

Follow-up appointments provide an opportunity to check in on your progress, review medications or supplements, and make adjustments as needed.

Each visit is collaborative—you’ll always have time to ask questions, share feedback, and help guide your treatment plan.

What if I experience medication side effects?

If you notice side effects from a medication, please contact us as soon as possible. We take side effects seriously and will work with you to adjust the dosage, explore alternative medications, or consider supplemental and lifestyle options to help minimize unwanted effects. Your comfort and safety are always our top priority.

How do I contact my provider between appointments?

You can reach your provider securely through the patient portal, where you can send messages or request prescription refills. For non-urgent questions, you may also contact us by email or phone. We return calls and emails within 24 hours. If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a late cancellation fee. You can make changes through the patient portal, by email, or by phone. Providing notice allows us to offer that time to another patient in need.

Is my treatment confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is protected by strict federal and state laws. All sessions, records, and communications are completely confidential. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic portal for messaging, documentation, and telehealth visits to ensure your information remains safe and private. There are, however, a few rare exceptions when we are legally required to share limited information to protect your safety or the safety of others. These situations include a patient expressing the intent to harm themselves or someone else, suspected abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult, or if subpoenaed or ordered by a court. In these circumstances, we only share the information necessary to ensure safety and comply with the law.

What is psychiatry?

Psychiatry is a branch of medicine focused on understanding, diagnosing, and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral health concerns. Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners are medical professionals who can prescribe medication, order lab work, and combine both medical and therapeutic approaches to support your mental well-being.

Psychologists and therapists specialize in providing psychotherapy and emotional support but do not prescribe medication. Because collaborative care often leads to the best outcomes, we partner with local counselors and therapists to provide seamless, comprehensive support throughout your treatment.

What is integrative psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry combines traditional medical treatments with holistic and complementary approaches to support mental wellness. This means we treat the whole person—mind, body, and lifestyle—not just the symptoms.

Your care may include medication management, targeted supplements, mindfulness and lifestyle recommendations, or collaboration with other healing practices such as meditation, yoga, or nutrition. The goal is to create balance and long-term well-being through an individualized, whole-person approach.
